Field of use

With Piroxicam, the medicine contains an active ingredient from the group of so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/analgesics (inflammation and pain inhibitors).

It is used for external support for painful and inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system:

• Inflammation of the tendons or tendon sheaths.
• Painful shoulder stiffness.
• Bruises, strains and sprains.

Contradictions

The medicine must not be used

• if you are allergic to Piroxicam or one of the other components.
• if you are on acetylsalicylic acid or other non -steroidal anti -phlogistics or analgesics during an earlier application. B. with asthma attacks, skin reactions or acute rhinitis.
• if you are in the last trimmer of pregnancy.
  
  Notice:
  The drug may only be intact on intact skin areas, i. H. are not applied to skin wounds, open injuries, areas with inflammation or infections of the skin as well as on eczema or in the area of eyes or mucous membranes.
  
  The medicine cannot be recommended for young people, since there are no sufficient therapeutic experiences.

dosage

Always apply this medicine exactly by consultation with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The recommended dose is

Depending on the size of the painful areas, a maximum of hazelnut-sized amount of gel (corresponding approx. 1 g gel) should be applied to the affected parts of the body 3 to 4 times a day.

The recommended treatment period is 2-3 weeks for tendon and tendonal inflammation and shoulder stiffness; For sports injuries 1 - 2 weeks. If the symptoms have not subsided or have become significantly weaker, you should consult the doctor.

• If you have used a larger amount than you should
  • The treatment should be canceled when local skin irritation occurs and suitable symptomatic therapy should be initiated.
  • If there is an intoxication through the gel that is not intended to use the gel, you immediately inform your doctor, who is based on the treatment of overdose on the clinical picture. Studies indicate that the administration of activated carbon reduces the absorption of Piroxicam and the amount of active ingredient is reduced.

Taking

The gel serves exclusively for external use and should be rubbed into the skin until no longer any residual quantities are visible. The creation of an airtight protection association (occlusalverband) is not recommended.
If the gel is not completely rubbed, there may be a temporary light discoloration of the skin or a discoloration of clothing.

Warnings and Precautions

Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine, especially if your kidney is pre -damaged.

Patients suffering from asthma, hay fever, nasal mucosal swelling (so-called nasal polyps) or chronic, the respiratory tract (obstructive) respiratory diseases or chronic respiratory infections (particularly coupled with hay fever-like phenomena) react more frequently than other sick people to non-anti-inflammatory drugs with asthma. Mucus swelling (so-called quinc-edema) or hives (urticaria).

If you develop a rash or skin symptoms, you must immediately end the application of Piroxicam, see a doctor immediately and inform your doctor that you apply this medicine. 

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breastfeed, or if you suspect that you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this drug.

Piroxicam must not be used in the last third of the pregnancy. In the 1st and 2nd third of the pregnancy, Piroxicam should only be applied to the express regulation of the attending doctor.

Since the active ingredient piroxicam transferred to breast milk in small quantities, the medicine should not be used during breastfeeding.
