How does the ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient damages the outer shell, the so-called cell membrane of fungi. This shell thus loses some of its functions, for example it becomes less permeable to nutrients - the cell starves. Cell components can also escape, the cell then dissolves. Depending on the concentration of the active ingredient, the growth and reproduction of the fungi are inhibited or killed directly. In addition, the active ingredient accumulates inside the fungal cell and damages the organs there.

Mode of action

For external use in nail fungus. Active ingredient 8% ciclopirox, works against all common fungal pathogens (thread fungi, molds, yeasts) Ciclopoli for nail fungus is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug (broad-spectrum antifungal). It is used to treat fungal infections of the nails (onychomycosis) caused by filamentous fungi and/or other fungi that can be treated with ciclopirox. The active ingredient ciclopirox prevents the fungi from growing and kills them. This will improve the appearance of your nails.

Contraindications

Ciclopoli against nail fungus must not be used,

• if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ciclopirox or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;.
• in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as there is insufficient experience in this age group.

Recommended use of Ciclopoli against nail fungus with application aid (pack size: 6.6 ml):

• apply once a day to the entire nail and the surrounding skin (no need to file the nail plate beforehand)
• Let the paint dry for about 30 seconds only
• Do not wash treated nails for at least 6 hours after application
• Afterwards, any paint residue can simply be washed off with water (no nail polish remover required)

Duration of use The treatment must be continued until the symptoms have completely disappeared, i. H. until the nails are clear or almost clear again and the nail plate has grown back healthily. Normally, fingernails take about 6 months to fully heal, and toenails about 9 to 12 months to heal. If one fingernail or toenail is severely affected, or if multiple nails are affected, additional therapy with an oral drug may be advisable. In these cases, please ask your doctor for advice. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Ciclopoli against nail fungus is too strong or too weak.

Revenue

• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the medicine is applied in a thin layer to the diseased nail(s) once a day. The nails should be clean and dry. The medicated nail polish is applied to the entire nail surface and 5 mm of the surrounding skin. If possible, the preparation should also be applied under the free edge of the nail.
• Allow the medicine to dry for about 30 seconds.
• Treated nails must not be washed for at least 6 hours, so application in the evening before bedtime is recommended.
• You can then resume normal hygiene measures.
• The preparation does not have to be removed with a solvent or abrasive (e.g. by filing the nails or nail polish remover), thorough washing of the nails with water is sufficient. In isolated cases, after a few days of treatment, a white film may appear on the nail due to insufficient washing. Thorough washing with soap and, if necessary, a nail brush will help to remove the film.
• If the preparation is accidentally removed by washing, it can be reapplied.
• Regular removal of the loose nail material from the diseased nail, e.g. B. by cutting the nails, is recommended.

Tips To Treat Nail Fungus Infection:

• Regular changing of towels and socks. Wash at a minimum of 60°C.
• Avoid sharing towels. Use your own towel and nail care kit.

Hints

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store in the refrigerator. At temperatures below 15 C, the nail polish containing active ingredients can gel; a slight floc or deposit may form on the bottom of the bottle. This can be dissolved by rubbing the bottle between your hands for about 1 minute. After that, the solution is clear again. This does not affect the quality of the product or its effectiveness. Before use, check that the solution is clear (transparent) again by checking the bottom of the bottle. v After use, please close the bottle tightly to prevent the contents from evaporating. Don't leave the bottle open. Keep the bottle in the carton to protect the product from light. If stored as intended, Ciclopoli against nail fungus can be kept for 6 months after first opening.
