Melissa (Lemon Balm, Melissa officinalis) is a species of plant from the genus Melissa in the mint family. The plant can grow up to 30 years old and reach a height of 20 to 90 cm. It grows mainly in the eastern Mediterranean and western Asia. It is cultivated in temperate and warm regions worldwide. While it is used as a spice plant, among other things, the leaves of lemon balm are traditionally used to support stomach function and to relieve nervous stress.
