Field of use

Contradictions

• The medicine must not be taken
  • if you are hypersensitive to ascorbic acid or one of the other components of the medicine.
  • The following describes when you can only take the medicine under certain conditions and only with special caution. Please ask your doctor. This also applies if this information has been on your own.
  • In the case of kidney stones from oxalate and certain diseases, in which too much iron is stored in the body (thalassemia, hemochromatosis, sideroblastic anemia) you can only take the medicine after consultation with your doctor.
  • The drug should not be used in higher doses in glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency of the red blood cells (e.g. favism).

  

dosage

• Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
  • Vitamin C deficiency
    • Adults receive 200 - 1000 mg of ascorbic acid per day until the symptoms subsided
  • To prevent vitamin C deficiency if this is not possible by nutrition:
    • Adults receive 50 - 200 mg ascobic acid per day

 

• Duration of the application
  • Your doctor decides on the duration of the application due to the course of the disease and the blood values.
  • Please speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the drug is too strong or too weak.

 

• If you have taken a larger amount of the drug than you should
  • In the event of pain in the kidney area or difficult urination according to a high dose of the medicine, a doctor must be informed immediately.
  • After taking to high drugs, diarrhea can occur, accompanied by appropriate gastrointestinal complaints. Taking the medicine is then interrupted. Other measures are generally not necessary.

 

• If you forgot to take the medicine
  • Do not take the double dose if you forgot the prior intake.

 

• If you cancel the intake of the medicine
  • In the event of an interruption or early end of the treatment, your symptoms can deteriorate or reappear. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

 

Taking

• The film -coated tablets are chewed with sufficient liquid.

Patient information

• Special voin view of taking the drug is required
  • When taking high doses of vitamin C (more than 4 g daily), patients with erythrocytic glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (hereditary disruption of the metabolism of the red blood cells) T. heavy hemolysis (resolution of the red blood cells) observed. Exceeding the specified dosage must therefore be avoided. Please ask your doctor for this.
  • If the kidney stone is tilted, there is a risk of the formation of calcium oxalate stones when taking high doses of vitamin C. Patients with recurring kidney stone formation is recommended not to exceed a daily vitamin C recording of 100 to 200 mg.
  • In patients with high-grade or terminal renal failure (dialysis patients), a daily vitamin C recording of 50 to 100 mg should not be exceeded, otherwise the risk of hyperoxalatemia (excessive oxalate concentration in the blood) and the formation of oxalate crystals in the kidneys. Please ask your doctor for this.

• Important information about certain other components of the medicine
  • This medicine contains lactose. Please only take the medicine after consulting your doctor if you are aware that you suffer from intolerance to certain sugar.

  • The specified application quantities should not be exceeded during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Miscellaneous

- Calcium oxalate kidney stones can form when taking large amounts of vitamin C.
- This is even possible every day, especially with kidney weakness, with quantities of 2-3 g vitamin C.
- In healthy kidneys, an increase in up to 5 g vitamin C is considered safe every day.

- Vitamin C only occurs in vegetables and fruit. As a result of its easy solubility, considerable preparation losses occur when cooking (green vegetables up to 60%, potatoes up to 25%). Vitamin C is largely stable in fruit. Immediately after the harvest, a breakdown using enzymes (at room temperature within 48 h over 50%), which is prevented by blanching, e.g. in the case of conservation.
- The vitamin C content of the cow's milk does not protect infants from a vitamin C deficiency disease.
- The vitamin C deficiency disease scurvy (Moeller-Barlow disease) develops gradually within several months. General diseases such as measles, liver inflammation, serious injuries, absorption disorders into the blood or long -term taking of various medicines (e.g. ASA and medication against bacterial infections) can significantly accelerate this.
- Early signs of a vitamin C deficiency are reduced physical performance, increased exhaustability or irritability. Later there is reduced immune defense, accompanied by gum infections (after the tooth breakthrough), finally to flat mucosa and skin bleeding (first recognizable by the base mucosa).
- The vitamin C deficiency disease can lead to death in adults and infants. If vitamin C is taken properly, a serious illness can also be expected with complete healing without late consequences.
- People over the age of 65 (men more often than women), people with regular high alcohol intake, smokers, pregnant women and breastfeeding as well as people with one-sided nutrition are more at risk of getting a vitamin C deficiency.
- A pronounced drop in the vitamin C content in the blood occurs in acute infectious diseases, serious liver diseases, serious injuries, blood washing and cancer.
